REAL Strength : A Lesson on Consent and Boundaries
If we don’t teach teens about consent and boundaries… someone else will — and not always well.
Equip students with the tools they need. This lesson introduces students to the concepts of consent (clear permission that can be given or withdrawn) and boundaries (personal rules that protect comfort, safety, and respect). Students learn how to recognize, respect, and practice these in everyday interactions — both in person and online.
Why It Matters
• Builds healthy relationships based on respect and trust.
• Prevents harmful behaviors such as peer pressure, bullying, or invasion of privacy.
• Equips boys with language and strategies to navigate friendships, dating, and digital spaces responsibly.
• Reinforces empathy and accountability, key skills for lifelong social-emotional growth.
Outcomes for Students
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
• Define consent and boundaries in their own words.
• Identify examples of respecting and violating consent/boundaries in everyday life.
• Practice using respectful language like “Is it okay if…?” or “I’m not comfortable with that.”
• Reflect on personal experiences where boundaries were respected or crossed.
• Apply these concepts to both in-person interactions and social media contexts.
